Claims Administration Section
Presents topics of interest to all levels of claims personnel in claims administration and management. Selected topics include medical and legal issues, investigations, disability management, plus professional development.

Morning Workshops

A Claim Adjudicator's Guide to Understanding How Older Ages Are Underwritten

Dr. Monica Wilson, Vice President and Medical Director with Swiss Reinsurance Company Ltd, will be speaking on older age underwriting. She will highlight the underwriting differences between older and younger age applicants with similar impairments. This presentation is intended to assist life claim adjudicators when reviewing claims on older ages.

Unique Challenges Created by the Aging of the Workforce on Disability Claims Management

Dr. Dennis Liu, Chiropractic Consultant with Vocan Work Solutions and Sven Hartman, Occupational Therapist and Director of Rehabilitation Services with Vocan Work Solutions, will talk about physical health and employment factors which impact the disability management of older workers. They will outline how these factors can contribute to workers going on claim and how awareness of these factors can assist in the management of these disability files.


Afternoon Workshop

All You Need to Know About Case Law But Were Afraid to Ask

Kate Walker, Counsel with Munich Re and Helen Sava, Principal, Sava Associates, are here to take you all through the most important decisions that every life and disability analyst should know to do their job. From recent decisions on hot new topics to influential decisions from the past, they will take you through the evolution of AD, taxability of lump sum settlements, extra contractual damages, relief against forfeiture, social networking, privacy and more. You will take away an excellent reference and be entertained with stories of real life experiences in the process.
