Success in product and services development entails understanding customer needs and expectations today and into the future. Carriers who fail to respond to customer market expectations and dynamics will be left behind. Successful carriers will transform to prepare for new models salvaging the value of knowledge and experience.
Mark Courtepatte, Associate Partner in the insurance practice for IBM Canada Global Business Services will be your presenter.
Mark is an Associate Partner in the insurance practice for IBM Canada Global Business Services. Mark has in excess of 30 years of extensive experience in the insurance industry. He has demonstrated leadership in financial services, underwriting, product development, pricing, marketing, claims, sales, customer service and technology. His primary focus is to understand and operationalize the Customer Experience to deliver quantifiable and sustainable results. Mark held senior Operations and Line of Business responsibilities. He also held the position of chair for the Canadian Life & Health Insurance Association (CLHIA) Group Insurance Committee for approximately eight years. He also represents IBM Canada on their Global Life and Global Health Councils. Mark has a proven track record in planning and implementing product and service innovation, as well as projects incorporating strategic, process, organizational and technological change.

The latest initiatives in the United States compared to our Canadian counterparts
In today's environment, product manager and pricing actuaries are constantly looking for that new idea that will increase and both sales and profitability for their respective company. This presentation will discuss some of the latest initiatives in the United States and compare them to their Canadian counterparts. Ideas and concepts will be presented that discuss the environment and why those have led to their respective product evolution. It will focus on Life products giving attention primarily to Universal Life and Term products.
This session will be interactive and an excellent way to learn and share product ideas.
Your presenter is Albert (Al) Tiw, FSA, FCIA , Vice President, Marketing Actuarial, Foresters. He is currently responsible for the pricing of all insurance products distributed through the US operations for Foresters. Over the last 15 years of industry experience, Al has gained broad knowledge of pricing and product development with respect both life insurance and living benefits. In addition to product knowledge, he is well verses in such areas as reinsurance and administration issues surrounding product implementation. Al is currently a Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries and the Society of Actuaries. He is an executive for the Actuaries Club of Toronto and actively participates on a Society of Actuaries exam committee.
